There are three types of class-I root verb conjugations:
- Standard Root-Verbs,
- Medial Root Verbs,
- Reduced Root Verbs
1. Standard Root Verbs

Example: | წერს |
- Most root verbs: ბანს, გებს, სთხოვს, იტანს, ჰფხანს, წერს, ჭამს. Chotiwari-Jünger et al. (2010): Table 1.18 (წერს).
- Some root verbs with alternation:
- -ინე/-ინა aorist: ადგენს, წარმოიდგენს, აღმოაჩენს, აწვენს, ახდენს, შეიძენს, კბენს, ისმენს, უსმენს, აღმოაჩენს,
- -ინდე/-ინდა aorist: წმენდს,
- -იჭე/-იჭა aorist: კრეჭს,
- -იხე/-იხა aorist: გრეხს,
- -იკე/-იკა aorist: ჩხრეკს
- -იტე/-იტა: aorist: ჩქმეტს, ჩხვლეტს, დახვრეტს. Chotiwari-Jünger et al. (2010): თაბლე 1.2a (ჩქმეტს).
The verb იქმს/შვრება is listed with the irregular verbs.

Note that ჭამს is an exception here; it looks like a Class-I verb on -ამ, but since ამ is considered to belong to the verb root in this case, ჭამს is a root verb.
